Artwork from Magic the Gathering's Antiquities Expansion, Urza's Mine, by Anson Maddocks. 1993. This artwork was from an era when the art director, Jesper Myrfors, would call Anson on the telephone and read a list of card titles which needed artwork. Anson would choose those which sounded interesting to him and no further art direction was imposed. When he picked Urza's Mine, because it's a homonym, he initially depicted exploding mines on all four variants of the art. He didn't realize his mistake until they were turned in and had to go home and recreate all four pieces in that single evening.
